How to choose a good red wine that goes well with our menu? This choice is not easy, as there are so many options. However, today we provide you with a few simple tips to help you succeed.
At HG Mallorca we not only deliver the drinks of your choice to your home, yacht or restaurant, but we are also experts in advising on wines in Mallorca. If you want your choice of red wine to be perfect, here's how.
How to choose the right red wine?
Within the wide selection of wines available, choosing the right one for a special occasion or a specific menu is not easy.
A curiosity about red wine is that it is the most consumed in winter. There are two main reasons for this:
- Not as cold as white wine or sparkling wines
- Best paired with meats, roasts and warm winter dishes.
Accompanying fish is not the same as accompanying meat or an aperitif. Nor is a cocktail event the same as a formal dinner at the table.
The time of the year and the time of the year in which the wine is to be tasted is important. For example, in summer, young and light wines are recommended, while in winter a fuller-bodied wine is more appropriate.
Reading the label is essential for choosing a good wine, as it provides us with the basic information we need to know: type, grape variety, region where it comes from, vintage...
If you have certain notions, you will know the type of grape you like best or the region you prefer. In this way, the choice will be quite simple, as you will be able to quickly discard the options that do not convince you.
It is also important to know the alcohol content in order to know how full-bodied the wine is:
- 10.5% of alcohol means that your body is light.
- From 10,5% to 12,5% means it has a medium body
- If it exceeds 12.5% it indicates a full-bodied wine.
At HG Mallorca we can help you find the ideal wine for every occasion, so if you have any doubts, please contact us.
