The basis of all its sustainable actions is to reduce its carbon footprint. But what exactly is a footprint?
- This is an environmental indicator that reflects the amount of greenhouse gases emitted directly or indirectly as a result of a given activity.
There are three types of carbon footprint:
- Staff: means of transport we use, energy use in the home, eating habits and consumption of goods, etc.
- Product: are emissions derived from the extraction of raw materials, production process, manufacturing, transport, waste...
- Corporate: is the inventory of emissions associated with the company's activity.
Therefore, there are many aspects that a company should focus on in order to reduce its ecological footprint. On this occasion, we would like to focus on the novelty that Estrella Galicia has included in its packaging.
How does noPack work?
Until now, the way beer cans have been joined together in packs was done by means of plastic rings (extremely harmful to the ecosystem), boxes, cardboard rings...
Although it is true that Estrella Galicia has never used plastics, all these solutions involve too much waste, with all that this entails. Even recyclable materials have the disadvantage of consuming resources for their transformation.
Estrella Galicia then decided to create an innovative way of joining cans, the noPack system:
- The drinks are joined by glue dots at the top.
- Just apply light pressure on the cans to separate them.
- This format is implemented in Estrella Galicia Especial, Estrella Galicia 00, 1906 Reserva Especial and Red Vintage.
