More and more citizens are opting for veganism as a lifestyle, and this is changing the demand for all products, including wines. Have you heard about the vegan rosé wines? These are alternatives that have become fashionable in recent years and whose demand is growing all the time. Today we would like to take advantage of these lines of our blog to tell you about them, and we are also going to give you a couple of recommendations so that you can enjoy this alternative.
The first thing is to be clear about what a vegan wine. Basically, we are going to refer to those wines whose production does not involve animal products. This may come as a surprise to the vast majority of the public, who believe that no animal products are used in the production of wine, but this is not always the case. Although the vast majority of wines are suitable for vegetarians, not all are also suitable for vegans.
The main disadvantage is usually the use of clarifiers of animal origin, such as fish glue, casein (a component extracted from milk) or clarifiers of animal origin. As you can see, these are not essential components, but their function is usually to remove solid particles and obtain a much cleaner and more stable broth.
Instead of these ingredients, in the vegan rosé wines there has been a shift towards products of mineral origin (such as bentonite) or vegetable origin (such as wheat or pea protein). These changes and this type of production have only increased in recent times, and our forecast is that production will become more and more normalised. As we mentioned before, the vegan culture is becoming more and more accepted and followed in society, by vegans, but also by people who usually eat animal products but like to consume animal-friendly options from time to time.
What are the best vegan rosé wines? Here are two recommendations
Although there are distinctions and labels that differentiate these wines, it is still not compulsory to state this on the labelling. For this reason, many consumers are not sure whether one wine or another is suitable for vegan consumption. In order to get rid of this doubt, we offer you two recommendations of great quality and that are totally safe:
- Quinta de Aves Wine. Without a doubt, this is one of the best vegan rosé wines we currently have. Since 2021, all the wines of this winery are suitable for vegans. In particular, Quinta de Aves Rose is a perfect combination of red varieties with a very low temperature maceration. The result is a bright, clean and elegant rose gold.
- Goru Rosé. With the Jumilla Denomination of Origin, this rosé is made entirely from Grenache and is surprising for its good aromatic intensity and great length on the palate.
